Did the Yoruba culture start out as a hunting and gathering society?

Please think back way before the birth of christ. I need to know their origins (Nigeria especially Yoruban culture).

Any other info you know is good too.Did the Yoruba culture start out as a hunting and gathering society?
yes loveDid the Yoruba culture start out as a hunting and gathering society?
It depends on what and who the precursor culture to the Yoruba were? Given how sophisticated the various Nigerian cultures were I think they and other West African cultures probably derived from earlier metal using cultures in the Sahel area. With the discovery of iron-working and hence sharper blades they moved south into Nigeria following the Niger river probably?
The Yoruba were originally recognized around the 4th century BC, but they certain existed long before this. They were definitely a hunting/gathering society, as were most indigenous to Africa in the same time. The Yoruba maintain that they are a uniquely distinct group that originated in a place known as Ile-Ife, a city now in Southern Nigeria.
Basically what culture DIDN'T start out as a Hunting/Gathering society?

The advent of farming came with the Neolithic Revolution, within the last 5-10,000 years!
