How is Canada's seal hunt any worse than other hunting practices in the world?

PETA, among other international groups, has protested the Canadian government's allowance of the continued seal hunting.





How is this activity which provides food and a way of life to Canada's northern indigenous people more inhumane than: sport hunting, safari hunting, fishing, or even the poultry/beef/pork industry?? Why single it out?How is Canada's seal hunt any worse than other hunting practices in the world?
Peta doesn't like any of the other things you listed either, and does in fact campaign against them. The seal hunt is just a particularly good campaign to attract attention for such organizations because 1.) the hunting methods are particularly barbaric [clubbing], and 2.) the animals in question are especially cute.How is Canada's seal hunt any worse than other hunting practices in the world?
It shocks me how much the world complains about ';our'; seal hunting.





The seal hunt is an extremely small industry. People in newspaper manufacturing facilities suffer more than these seals do.





But don't worry; once the oil industry gets going in the Arctic, seal hunting might not be needed anymore.
-=sigh=- There is. The seal suffers. Where as with other huning the animal usualy dose not. Hunting for food is fine. I like my hambergers, my beef fried rice, my chicken with cashues. Meet is good :) I am agents hunting ';for fun';. There has to be a good reason for it. Like food or to protect yourself from a rabid animal.
It's not worse, but there are a lot of idiots out there that thing the cuter the animal is, the worse it is to kill it.





You're either against using animals for human benefit, or you're not. If you think it matters whether the animal is cute or ugly, you're a hypocrite and a moron.

Is the the seal hunting where they club the babies to death? If so they may consider it more inhumane than simply shooting an animal. But I honestly don't know anything about it. And I don't get PETA. They have good intentions, but they never accomplish anything.
None of the people that do that stupid sh*t are any better/worse than the others. They all need to have their family killed with spears to the head. But thanks for the points.

I agree with you. It don't seem to make a lot of sense, unless they are in danger of becoming extinct? I have no idea.
Those groups are allobviously RACIST and want to destroy those people culture and traditions. Shame on them.
