How dangerous is hunting with an air rifle in your backyard?

Dangerous? Depends on the size of your backyard and your gun. Air rifles go from ';might put an eye out'; to ';possibly lethal to humans at 100 feet';. Some pellet rifles get quite close to .22 velocities, and .22s can and do kill people.





Illegal? If you live in a city, probably, but check your local laws. Also, some states prohibit hunting with airguns.





If you want to hunt small game, find either some federal or state land where hunting is not prohibited or get to know a farmer who has whatever you want to shoot and get his permission.





Also, take hunter safety and buy a license, otherwise you're in a world of hurt when you get caught.
It depends upon what your back yard is like. I have always shot or hunted in my back yard with air guns while growing up. My boys now target shoot their .22lr rifles, shotguns, Russian Battle Rifle, SKS, WASR-10/63, AR type rifles, hunting rifles, or my handguns in our back yard. We even shoot coyotes in our back yard.
depends whether your neighbours are nasty basterds who might open up on you. Make sure your folks can lay down a field of fire from the back porch to cover your retreat.





or, you can tell the blokes next door that you'll take out that family of woodchuck thats been digging up their garden for only 10 quid and a hard lemonade
It depends on the air gun and e velocity of the pellet. I use mine in the back yard in the city and I just make sure that I am sure of my back stop and never tke a shot if I am not ready for the consequences.
Depends if you live in a big city or not if you do just be ready to have the cops called on you and be takin to the ground at gun point.
Not dangerous at all, unless your a squirrel. dead serious though, you shouldn't have any problems unless you have Osama loving neighboors.
Blast away. what's the worst that could happen? Shoot your eye out?





I reduced the squirrel population in our backyard with an air rifle when I was younger.
