Deer hunting ends in December in NY, so late fall/early winter is great hunting time for deer. Other than that, squirrel and cottontail are open until the end of Feb. Good luck. How good is hunting durring the cold winter months in New York?
As far as deer hunting is concerned the cold winters are very good for hunting. Deer in very harsh climes will ';herd'; up in deer yards and will be very concentrated in certain areas. Plus the snow makes it easier to find the deer. Find a food source that time of year and you will find deer.
Colder the better, more snow the better....animals move and look for food and are easier to see.
